A Body Tone class is a full body conditioning and strengthening workout, improving functional strength, flexibility and co-ordination. It is also excellent for improving vital core strength.

These classes differ from a regular circuit training workout as the emphasis is less on the cardio-vascular system and more on the muscular and skeletal systems.

Get ready for a total body workout including lifts, pulls and pushes, targeting all of the body and in particular, the core, an area which is so often neglected.

What Should I wear?

Comfortable trainers or running shoes are best with shorts or sweatpants. If possible try to wear a lightweight top as you will get hot and sweaty despite a lower cardio intensity.

Other recommendations

The following tips can make your Body Tone class both invigorating and enjoyable:

  • Please arrive 5 minutes before class is scheduled so classes can start on time.
  • If you are new to the class, let your instructor know. Also inform them of any physical limitations before you begin.
  • Bring along a towel. You will sweat during your workout and you may want to dry yourself down between stations.
  • Bring water. It is essential to stay hydrated, before, during and after exercise.
  • Listen to the instructor, in order to perform the exercise safely and in a functional manner that will benefit you best.
  • Let your instructor know immediately if you have any problems.
